Completely refurbished to a very high standard, Gainsborough Care Home forms part of the thriving James Day Care Centre in Swanage. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Isle of Purbeck, Gainsborough Care Home is now registered for 48 residents. There are several assisted bathroom/ wet-room and WC facilities on each floor, modern facilities and amenities. The home is arranged over two floors. The first floor is accessed by stairways and a passenger lift. There are two communal lounges and a dining room on the ground floor, with a lounge/diner upstairs. Most areas of the home overlook mature, well maintained gardens and/or the local views. The gardens offer seating, ramped access to pathways with support railings and sheltered space. There is a pond and feature fountain. Care is primarily for older people over the age of 65, with dementia care provision included. A recent addition to the Home is the development of a specialist Dementia Suite accommodating six residents with advanced dementia needs. The suite has its own dining and lounge areas and is supported by a team of specially trained ‘Person First’ Care workers. Gainsborough has a minibus which takes our residents out and about whether mobile or relying on wheelchairs allowing a whole variety of trips to the beach, theatre and summer picnics. This has been kindly donated by an existing resident and his family. All our staff are skilled and experienced in looking after people who may be frail or suffer from debilitating conditions, such as dementia, but who have no desire to let life pass them by!
