Napier Respite and Day Service is a specialist service for younger adults with learning difficulties and complex physical needs. Located on the southern outskirts of Rochester, the service shares grounds with Rochester Care Home and together they make up the Robert Bean Care Centre. The Napier Service is situated a mile and a half from Rochester town centre and benefits from the M2 and M20 motorways. Napier provides both day services and respite care for younger adults with complex learning and acute physical disabilities.The Napier Day Service offers an inclusive, safe and engaging environment for adults and 16 – 18 year olds. The service provides individuals with the opportunity to meeting with their friends, develop skills and lead fulfilled lives. Hosted in our multi-purpose facility, the Napier Day Service is able to offer group and 1-1 support using our therapy room, snoezelen sensory rooms and various other spaces. The specialist support staff have a wealth of experience in providing meaningful activities. The person-centred approach is designed to engage individuals in their support and help them to work towards their aspirations and goals. Of course, there are also plenty of opportunities to participate in fun activities that are intended to enhance quality of life. Activities include: arts and crafts, gardening, cookery, music, pamper sessions and relaxation sessions. The service benefits from having its own fleet of mini-buses and understands the importance of social inclusion making frequent use of many of the local amenities and attractions including: a hydrotherapy pool, bowling alley, shops, parks, etc. In addition to the support provided at Napier Day Service, the team also work collaboratively with the individuals families and the various health and social care professionals such as care managers, GP’s and community health professionals. The Napier Respite Service provides respite accommodation 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In addition to having access to the wider centre facilities, all bedrooms are equipped with ceiling track hoists and the bathrooms are purpose built to facilitate ease of use for clients with complex physical needs. There is an on-site kitchen that provides a varied menu of home-cooked food and our kitchen team are trained and experienced in producing specialist and texture-modified diets.
